Biology Internship Program

Responsibilities

  • As a biological intern for PowerPollen℠, your primary responsibility will be to execute precise biological experiments to aid in process enhancement and improvement
  • Apply best practice laboratory skills utilizing various media, sterilizers, stereoscope, microscope and other related microbiology tools and techniques
  • Ensure experimental methods are followed properly by reviewing and understanding protocols and objectives
  • Keep detailed record of activities and process modifications and produce reports and data summaries
  • Assist in preparing for discussions with company leadership on key areas of accountability, summer field and lab observations, improvement opportunities and season end internship overview
  • Become familiar with and follow all PowerPollen℠ safety protocols and encourage other team members to do the same
  • Driving company owned and leased vehicles safely, potentially assigned to tow/haul
  • Ability and willingness to cross-train for other jobs within the organization as needed
  • This role requires confidentiality and extreme protection of PowerPollen℠ critical and
    proprietary assets

Requirements

  • Two or more years college level academics preferably agriculture or biology related
  • Capable and interested in working across diverse environments that include indoor lab conditions and outdoor agricultural conditions throughout the year: summer heat and humidity, corn field conditions including insect exposure, uneven terrains, narrow and sight limited workspaces with active agricultural equipment in operation
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record – all candidates driving records will be checked
  • Willing to travel across the midwest as needed
  • Willing to work long days as needed during peak season
  • Familiar with computer/PC/laptop operations
  • Ability to walk, stand or sit for prolonged periods
  • Ability to drive field vehicle for prolonged periods

Preferred Qualifications

  • Academic exposure in an agriculture related field will aid in understanding processes and procedures
  • Experience operating off-road vehicles beneficial
  • Prior farm, field or agricultural work a plus

Engineering Internship Program

Responsibilities

  • As an engineering intern for PowerPollen℠, your primary responsibility will be to
    assist engineers creating and implementing technology that enhance yield in agricultural crops
  • Aid engineering staff to create mechanical, pneumatic and electrical system schematics,
    assemblies, specify parts, generate bill of materials, prototype creation including hands on
    testing and trouble shooting
  • Assist in preparing estimates and proposals and prepare technical reports
  • Coordinate with external manufacturing and engineering for design and manufacturing projects
  • Take direction from and work under the mentorship of senior level engineering staff

Requirements

  • Pursuit of BS degree in bio-tech, electrical, mechanical engineering, or related technology
    degree
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks, Pro E, OrCAD, Altium or similar CAD design software
  • Aptitude and willingness to contribute on all levels of engineering projects
  • Proficiency in MS Windows, Office, Access, VISIO, and other related software packages
  • Willingness to travel for technology integration and testing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework should contain engineering and science courses providing a well-rounded knowledge
    base
  • Energetic, enthusiastic and entrepreneurial self-starter with a proactive attitude that reflects a
    drive to succeed and achieve results
  • Desire to contribute to a project as part of a team of specialized engineers, scientists and
    technicians
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator and possess strong social interaction skills
  • Previous Co-op/Internship experience with an engineering firm helpful

Candidate Must Have

This candidate must have the ability to plan and execute on multiple projects simultaneously and in a
timely fashion. Must be able to work well both independently and in a team environment, have strong
analytical ability, a methodical approach to problem solving, attention to accuracy and detail, and
excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must. The ideal candidate will have strong
leadership skills, an excellent academic track record, creativity, flexibility, an outgoing and positive
attitude, and an open mind.
